52nd Annual Meeting of the International Society for the Systems Sciences
Memorial Union, Madison
Theme: “Systems that Make a Difference” – This conference will bring together professionals on the cutting-edge of the systems movement with influential decision makers facing far-reaching, real-world complexities on a daily basis. The theme for this year’s conference borrows from Gregory Bateson’s definition of information as “a difference that makes a difference.” The question for systems researchers and practitioners is, “what difference are we making?”  Keynote speakers for the conference will address a wide range of issues and potential solutions, including: genetics and global health; sustainability in natural ecosystems; complexity and resilience in global business organizations; and new frontiers in technology and virtual environments. In addition, the conference offers participants multiple opportunities to engage in small-group discussion on a range of important and fascinating topics.
